Understanding the Condition
Stages of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Stage 1
Symptoms have not yet begun, but there may be markers of the disease detectable in your blood.

Stage 2
Less than 6 months of the first symptoms (e.g., morning stiffness of the joints).

Stage 3
6 months – 2 years since onset or when tests reveal both cartilage and bone destruction.

Stage 4
Damage becomes so severe that the joints can fuse together.
